Lower back pain and neck pain are two of the most common presenting injuries we see in our clinic. Low back pain affects 80% of the general population at some point in their lives.
You may have injured your low back lifting, gardening or from an injury such as a fall. There are many possible causes of lower back pain, including injuries to the back muscles, ligaments, nerves or discs that may have occurred due to strain, overuse, trauma or wear and tear. You may feel pain in your lower back and buttock region, or pain and tingling may radiate down your leg.
Whether your goal is to be able to:
- Lift your children again
- Get back to the work
- Sleep through the night
- Return to your sport
Our physiotherapy treatment focusses on relieving your pain, restoring your movement, strengthening the muscle systems that support your spine and teaching you how to look after your spine to prevent recurrence in the future. We can help with our physiotherapy treatment stages. Using a combination of manipulation, mobilisation, therapeutic massage, dry needling and specific exercises, you can get back to doing the activities you love.
Neck pain is very common and can have a significant impact on your work, hobbies, sport and quality of life. Neck pain is also a complaint that is likely to repeat itself in the future and cause recurrent episodes of pain and stiffness. Neck pain can be caused by an injury such as whiplash, or repeated strain to joints and muscles from poor work postures.
Common features of neck pain include pain in the neck and shoulder area that may radiate down the arms, loss of neck movement, headache and numbness and tingling in the hands.
Physiotherapy treatment aims to identify the factors contributing to neck pain and provide a treatment plan that not only looks to relieve pain and restore movement, but a strategy to avoid recurrent episodes of pain and stiffness. This may involve correction of sleep, sitting and standing posture, specific corrective exercises and education.
Our physiotherapy staff have post graduate training in back and neck injuries and are able to provide you with a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan that will get you back to doing the things you want to do.
